hey..umm....i would like to become an audio installer and im wondering what it takes to become one i love cars and love electronics and i am saving up money to go to uti for ford but first i would like to do audio installations. I would like to know all about it in as much detail as you personally know. what is the pay? what is the work place like? do you need to own your own tools? will you work by yourself? anyway thanks for the reply

being an installer isn't glamorus work. you spend hours on end bent over, squeezing your hand into nooks and crannies but the end product is always worth it... Becomming an installer starts on a low level, it helps if you have a small portfolio put together of some installs you may have done.. if you are totally noob to installs then you have a lot of research to do.. some suggest getting a MECP (mobile electronics cert program) but just cuz you can pass a test doesnt mean you can fiberglass and enclosure perfectly... try going to a local shop and ask about doing some work with them, even if it is volunteer work stocking shelves in exchange for shadowing an installer and getting their wisdome... hope this helps, oh and pay isnt all that great. top rated installers make around 30k a year, maybe a little bit more if they work for an exclusive shop that works for high profile clients..
