car door slammed into my head really hard yesterday should i be concerned?

The wind blew the car door into the side of my head full force when i was getting into it yesterday and it hurt really bad! I never lost conciousness or anything and was with it and have been ever since but there must be some bruising or something because i can't even lay on the side where it hit without it feeling sore. There is a small bump too and when i rub my hand over the area it is really sore...this is normal right? How long after hitting your head can something serious happen? Should I call the dr? It is normal for it to be sore right? Thank you. I'm just a little anxious.
