"I've just read what was written," Edwards told Yahoo! Sports after Friday's practice. "I can't comment on it because I don't know what's going on."
Asked if a deal could be in the process of being worked out without his involvement, Edwards replied, "It would depend on my involvement. Nobody has talked to me and said, 'hey, here's what we're thinking of doing.' I've not talked to anyone from UPS, period."
However, Edwards was quick to praise UPS: "I do want to say they've been an awesome partner, and hopefully they can get some more wins before the season's up."
For the moment, without confirmation or attribution, the UPS-to-Edwards story falls under the heading of "rumor." And Edwards smiled at how rumors can take on a life of their own.
"I was going to be running the 20 car, right?"
