Cats whining at front door?

I have 2 cats that will not stop whining and crying at the front door to go outside. I live in a city so I can't let my cats out to roam around outside without getting run over by cars. However, I do go out with them on a leash everyday so they do get outside for an hour or so a day. I also have a big picture window with a couch in front of it for them to watch outside and sit in the sun. Most of the time my windows are even open to let fresh air in! How can I get these cats to stop crying at the door? It is getting ridiculous!
They are both fixed. Ones a boy and ones a girl... brother and sister. ^_^

stop letting them go out. they will be fine as indoor cats only. once every few months or so they can have a special treat to go out but don't take them out everyday. this encourages them to cry so they can go. whenever they want. that can be 2 am...ha. wouldn't be to funny.

you cant.........you have to be a good mommy and take care of their welfare..............

i don't let my cats outside.........one of my kittens got out at about 3 a.m. and i could not get him in...........i did hear a cat fight, but you would think that he would come when i called.............

about 6: 30 a.m., it was dawn and i went out to look for jackie......i say him at the side of my neighbors house in a clump of grass........his little black/ white butt sticking out.........

i brought him in and he was not injured.........but he was really scared......i washed him with a warm wet washrag.............

but i was lucky, he was ok........

Were they outdoor cats before you adopted them? I know one of my cats, someone gave her to me when she was 4 months old. They let her outside and once she moved here she meowed constantly to be outside. Luckily we live in a quiet neighborhood. There's not much to tell you...just keep 'walking' them and let them sit by an open window. Maybe get them a few more toys or one of those laser lights to play with.

Try making a more interesting indoor environment for them. Thing they can climb high on, hide food around for them to find, etc. It can often help a lot just to give them a more challenging everyday life:)

Awwww..that's just so cute but I feel your pain. I had one cat who did the same thing..and I too live in the city and imagine a cat wandering the streets of NY all alone just forget it haha..I guess they just really enjoy being outdoors and love the walks you take them out on. Do you have them fixed? Those are the only two things I can think of
