Causes for being unable to breathe?

A little over a year ago i woke up unable to breathe whatsoever. Nothing came in. I waited a moment, thinking that i just needed to calm down but after about 20 seconds this was not happening. I ran into my parents room, tried to tell them i couldnt breathe but obviously no sounds came out. It got to the point where i was seeing stars and seriously light-headed until very VERY slowly i started breathing again. By the time i was back to normal according to my parents 10 minutes had passed. Naturally we rushed to the hospital but they came up with nothing. I then went to two other hospitals and again they had no explanation. My GP also came up with nothing but gave me a puffer which i cant see being useful considering i couldnt inhale at all.
I was 16 at the time, and 55 kgs, dont drink, dont smoke, dont snore, no history of breathing or any serious medical problems, no asthma, and am not prone to panic attacks. One of the doctors thought it was a heart condition but the test showed no problems wiht my heart. It's happened twice since but both times during the day and i was able to ride it out.
I've seen some similar questions here, but most of the askers seem to be older, male and link it to a pre-existing disorder.
Any ideas?
