When I put a CD-ROM into my disk drive and close the drive, Vista does not respond in any way. It does not make any noise like it used to and the disk does not show up on the system. It worked earlier today, i.e. about 2 hours ago. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Right click on your computer icon on the desktop and click manage, once there look at the options to the left and click device manager and it will display a list of all your computers drivers and such. Click the + button your cd/dvd drive option and right click the driver and choose uninstall and then restart your computer..should fix it. The reason you choose uninstall is that when the OS boots it finds the missing driver and reinstalls it to the uncorrupted condition.
