I have a telus phone under a 3 year contract. (one year left) However the phone is not functioning properly. It lags a lot and the battery just won't stay charged. Even when i don't use it it will die out in 3 days tops.
Would they allow me to change phones, without paying for the remaining months, using the same number?

Are you planning to switch phone carriers? If you are, you can use the same number as long as the new carrier is able to switch the number. Switching carriers means that the old carrier will still charge you the early-termination fee. Whether you decide to pay it or not is totally up to you, but not recommended.

if you have been with them for that long then you're most likely to be eligible for an upgrade (which means you can get a new phone with the contract price) but i dont know if you would like to "renew" your contract
or you can just find a phone that you like that is compatible with your company and buy it for cheap on like ebay or something
another thing u could do is if you have insurance on your phone you can get it replaced either at a very low cost or for free
hope it helped =]
