4wd 5spd? Here's the break down:
1. Got into truck, noticed that pressure on clutch was about 3/4 normal. Turned around to go home, clutch was going straight to floor, was till able to drive in 2nd & 3rd gear. Clutch pedal springs back up when depressed and released. No resistance.
2. Got home, master cylinder fluid levels are empty - I assumed leak or failure of master, slave, or line.
3. Discovered slave was covered in brake fluid at rubberand piston looking area. Assumed that slave cylinder failed! Bought new slave cylinder and loosened all parts, etc.
4. Removed and replaced slave with a new part, existing hose - no leakage detected amongst lines.
5.Tried to bleed clutch: Filled resivoir with brake fluid w/cap left off, bleeder screw closed. Pumped at least 20 times per try, did about 5 tries. No pressure building in pedal.
6. Opened bleeder screw: repeated step 5, clutch still no pressure; goes to floor but springs right back up.
7. Closed bleeder screw, made sure "piston" on slave cylinder was disengaged - repeated pumping pedal - no pressure at all, pedal still springs back up when depressed and let go.
8. ??? WTF??? Now getting upset after a few days of diagnosis and failed repair.

I feel like I am literally 1, 2 or even 3 simple steps away from solving this problem...please help :)

My question is what possible steps am I missing? Is there something I need to do with the Master cylinder?

Hydraulic clutches are sometimes a real pain to bleed. Visit a harbor freight store and pickup a manual vacuum pump. That should do the trick.

You should have done the master as well. I don't know of a single manufacturer that will warranty a slave without a master install as well. They kinda go hand in hand.

sounds like the seals in the master cylinder are worn, you either need a pressure bleeder or a helper to push the pedal down while you open the bleed screw, you then tighten the bleed screw BEFORE they let the pedal up and repeat that a few times
