Charging a device with batteries?

I want to know, if I connect three or four AA batteries together, and then connect the ends to the positive and negative terminals of a usb car charger, and then connect my iPhone to the other end of the charger, will it properly charge my iPhone? And if not, why not and what can I do to fix it?

it depends if the usb car charger is for your iphone. If it is then 3 or 4 AA Batteries may not be the right amount of power to charge the iphone. You will never know how much power the iphone takes when plugged into the wall at home or wherever. You can try adding more and more batteries to see how much it takes to charge it.
