I just got my exhaust re-done. I have a '99 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L V8

Before: No stock cats, just a piece of pipe where they should be (I had two), 3" piping from them down to a Dynomax muffler (not sure what type) then through one high-flow cat (yeah I know, stupid mechanic doesn't know what he's doing), then it splits off into duals coming out the side at a 45 degree angle with 3" chrome slash-cut tips.

After: Got two high-flow cats put back in the stock position (so the O2 sensors can actually get readings), got the other cat taken off and put a piece of pipe in it's place (so just the Dynomax is there), then it splits off into my duals again with stainless-steel rolled tips.

Now, it sounds pretty cool, but I'm extremely picky with my exhaust sound, I've gone through about 6+ exhaust systems, no joke. I just want to know if, instead of having some cheap $40 muffler, switching it out for a Flowmaster or Magnaflow in place, would it have a louder sound? Because I like to have a nice crackle at higher RPMs.

Also, I don't want to just take the muffler off and put a piece of pipe in its place. Yes, I've had that before and it sounds nice, but I just want a nicer muffler.
I also have a K&N 77 Series Cold-Air Intake.
