Christians/Atheists What is the point of ridiculing the other party?

I suppose it gives you a chance to vent your anger but it really doesn't accomplish anything.
In the real world this is considered childish besides when you start to attack a group they will attack back i don't think this is the goal of either party so lets start handing out hugs and trying to listen to what we all have to say?
