Christians: Does loving your enemies mean loving them until it hurts?

Does this mean we do not stand up for ourselves? Because afterall God is a righteous justice because He says: "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord." -- Romans 12:19.

It is a challenging topic for me.

So does that mean even when people take advantage of us we keep loving them wholeheartedly? Do we allow people to walk all over us? I know the ultimate Love is Jesus for we did not deserve this gift; but His love for us kept Him going :)

In theory we should forgive others even if they take advantage of us but I personally make exceptions when the "taking advantage" is so extreme that it becomes legally actionable.Jesus' teachings also do not rule out permanent separation from the offending party which may include spouses and other family members. :close look:
