Christians, how are we united as the body of Christ? How can we transcend...

...denominations and be one as God is? Not Christian? Respectful sharing only, please
The thing is, what Pastor G and I don't get is why we can't focus on what (Who) we have in common and respect but not necessarily agree with the differences. Whatever happened to God and His love in us transcending all things?

Such a union could never happen, for the reasons that created the denominations in the first place. Differences in interpretations of Scripture are too widespread to allow a centrist stance. Then you have those such as myself who do not align ourselves with any denomination, and we do have a voice. Those that are saved at the Rapture will make up the only important single body in the Lord, for all others will be proven wrong in their interpretations.
Rarely is there complete agreement by all of the churches of any given denomination. Years ago I was with the Church of Christ, and attended services at several different churches until I joined one. In matters of doctrine I routinely encountered many schools of thought at those churches. I know of similar dichotomies in the Baptist churches of one sanction.
Interesting thought though.
