[Jesus was the speaker in both of these quotes]

Would you mind clearing that up?
I specifically asked for Christians, so if you are an atheist who would just say "Jesus isn't real", then this question is not really for you.
 
You are using a difficult to understand translation and not reading the sentences that follow in John 5.

Here you go:31 “If I tell people about myself, they cannot be sure that what I say is true. 32 But there is someone else who tells people about me, and I know that what he says about me is true.
