Hi
I have an Automatic '05 petrol Citroen C3. Within the last few weeks the engine Auto Diagnosis light has been coming on whilst driving. Often the car goes into "limp-home mode" and has little power. Restarting the engine usually corrects the problem.
Yesterday the engine started to get very rough and lost power, accompanied with the warning light. It stalled several times on the way home and was very difficult to drive.
I managed to get the car home. I tried to start the engine today, initially it ran for about 10 seconds then stalled. It now stalls immediately after starting.
I have noticed that the area above the exhaust in the boot area, to the right of the spare tyre is getting extremely hot when the car has been running.
I had a look online and someone suggested that the catalytic converter could be blocked. I'm pretty certain that its abnormal for this area to get this hot.
The engine temperature occasionally goes from 3 bars (normal) to six bars instantaneously and within about a minute goes back down to 6. I'm not sure if this helps to diagnose the problem. It seems strange that it would go up by three bars all at once and then drop all the way back down to three.
The car has had regular servicing etc. Oil, coolant are all ok.
I will probably need to take it to a Citroen dealer to have a look at the fault on the computer, but am just wondering if anyone would have any idea why its stalling immediately when started. Could it be contaminated fuel? Because I will need to get it towed if I can't get it running.
Thanks for reading all this. I would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks so much for your help!
