my citroen C4 2.0 HDI has delveloped a power steering fault, the steering is very stiff until i set off then it loosens up and works fine until i turn off the car again. ive left the car running for a while and nothing changes, ive checked the fluid level and that appears to be fine... any ideas??
when i start the car the steering is still very heavy as if i hadn't started it, then when i set off driving it loosens up and is ok untill i park up and turn it off again. if i start the car again its heavy again...

Just clarify something here....

Are you saying that when you switch off the engine the steering becomes heavy and when the engine's running it's OK? That's what's meant to happen.

If it's taking a moment to start working I'd suspect the pump is worn or there may be a valve sticking.
Either way there's nothing you can do about it yourself, take it to a garage.
