Co-worker is spreading untrue gossip about me. What should I do?

I have worked at the same company for 25 years. A co-worker, who has issues with several people has now decided to drag me into her drama. It's all he said, she said, but it is hurtful and people seem eager to listen and spread it around. I don't know what to do, should I ignore it? Should I defend myself? Should I confront this person, which is what she wants, she loves the drama, confrontation and attention. Any suggestions???
 
seriously, I'd tell her to get laid. Sounds like she doesn't have a life. I told that to someone once and it worked for me. Something to think about.
 
You need to go to your Human Resources department, if you have one. If not, you need to go to your boss. What she is doing is actually illegal; it's called slander.
 
Ignore gossip mongers, you might but a sign on your desk.
Gossip free zone.. she might get a hint.. maybe other co-workers will do likewise.
