Computer Experts Help Please!- my keyboard doesn't work!?

I recently bought an IBM Model M Keyboard and have been trying to make it work with my computer. the keyboard works fine on all the other computers I've tried it on, ranging from Windows 98, 2000, Me, and XP computers, desktops & laptops, but it doesn't work where it counts- my home computer.

I bought a PS/2 to USB adapter for the keyboard, supposedly the PS/2 port on my computer doesn't provide enough power to run the keyboard. So now the num lock light turns on, BIOS & Windows detect a keyboard but nothing I do on the IBM keyboard in be seen in BIOS or Windows. I can't even turn the num lock light on/off!

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium x64. all the other systems I've tested this keyboard on are earlier versions of Windows, all 32 bit.

In Vista in device manager under the keyboards section it shows I have two "human interface device"s, both appear to be exactly identical to the other. one is for the keyboard I'm currently using to type this question, the other should be the IBM keyboard. I tried uninstalling one or disabling it with no results.

Pls help me, this is getting very frustrating!
