struggle in the occ. territorie? 1) isreal refused to give up the territories until arab nations reconginized israel right to exist and plaestinian arabs were displaced.


2) plalestinian arabs refused to give up their homes to isreali refugees who secretly supported the plo.


3)yasir arafat returned the sinais peninsula to egypt but not before dividing jerusalem into territories

4) the golan heights was not recognized by the plo who feared plalestinian jews revenge for terriot attacks.

Because Hamas staged a coup against the elected govt in the Gaza strip and then under direct supervision of Iran, started to bombard Israel after Israel withdrew unilaterally from the Gaza strip,the struggle in the Gaza strip is not with Israel but with the Palastenian factions of Hamas and the PLO. Only after dramatic increase in rocket fire from within the Gaza strip caused Israel to defend itself under UN law of self preservation did they strike back at Hamas.
