Connect to internet in two ways simultaneously?

I have a DSL connection and a dialup connection in my home PC. Windows XP Sp2 it is. Is there any way to keep the system connected to internet using both the connections? Sometimes the DSL connection goes off for a minute or two, during which system should automatically use the dialup connection. Is that possible?
 
Suppposedly yes, but it's extremely difficult to do. Windows is definitely not a multitasking operating sytem. Your best bet would be to buy a router that uses dialup as an automatic backup.
