Considering getting a kitten...questions?

I have not had a cat in years. But I am thinking about it now. I am horribly allergic to cats, yet I spent time at a friend's house recently and had NO reaction to his cats. I was astounded. I could even snuggle them to my face...nothing! They were white for the most part, and fluffy. Is it true that white cats are less allergenic? I mean seriously, any other cat and my eyes almost swell shut, I can't stop sneezing, and I break out in hives.

It really may be the type of cat that he has, not that it is a white cat. Some cats create more dander which in turn bothers your allergies. Send a little more time with his cats before you decide to take on an animal, but if it is good, get the same kind of cat he has and you should be all right. Good luck!

As much as you might love cats if you are alregic you really shouldn't be thinking about getting one b/c it might not trigger you allergies whe you get the kitten but later down the road it might then you would have to get rid of it and you have to think how that will make you and the cat feel.
Sorry, Good Luck!

I highly doubt that's true. Color can't determine allergy reaction. However, if you really want a cat, you should look into getting a good allergy medicine first and foremost.
