I have a couple questions about my car audio system. Recently, my husband installed a subwoofer for me. I also have a cd player/ipod/sirius satellite system all hooked up in there. The speakers in the car are just from the manufacturer. The extra stuff is what I just listed, including the sub. Now, when I want to control the sound, I can flip through the different options..I can choose to set the bass anywhere from -12 db to +12 db. The treble can be controlled similarly. The subwoofer is on the next menu and it can go up to +6.
Now, if I put the bass up using the bass control, will that damage the speakers or will it go through the sub, since that's hooked up??? Basically, does the bass need to be completely down to -12db in order not to hurt the speakers? Is the only way to get a good sounding bass in the car by just having it come through the sub at +6? I really like the sound of the bass in the music when the bass is up (at least a bit!) AND the sub is up. With just the sub at +6 and the bass at -12db, there is VERY LITTLE bass coming through in the music. Could someone please help me understand this?? I have no idea what it's for. A little education would be excellent! (I couldn't find what I was searching for through google).
THANKS
