Copying Large files from server and loosing internet?

Hi Guys,

I am totally baffled by this problem i have.

We have a windows server 2008 on our network, when any machine copies off a
large file i.e. 5gb or more the machine looses the internet.

Any clues ?

live messenger totally drops and internet explorer just won't surf... as
soon as the file has finished copying off the internet comes back

I'm baffled.....

I am the IT department lol, I am thinking it maybe because the server is on a gigabit port and all other machines are on 100mb.... maybe there is a bottle neck ?

all the memory and resources are prioritized for the file transfer. the system administrator set it up that way. he/she made printer sharing and file sharing tasks the #1 job of the server; all resources are channeled to that task, the same way the bloodstream does during body trauma

what on earth are u downloading over 5 gb's ? and your i t? you should try to download it in parts if u have alotta time
