changing gear spontaneously? I got a new bike on tuesday (Norco Ryde) and since I have had it, the chain keeps skipping gears (For example when I change from 4th to 3rd it goes to 2nd gear and misses out 3rd), and changing gear without me touching the gear changer. This is only happening for gears 3+4 I think. could it be that the 3rd and 4th sprocket are too close together? Or could it be something else, if so please explain.
Thanks x

If the bike is new then you should take it back to the shop and demand a replacement or a refund. Don't attempt to fix it yourself; it's their responsibility to provide goods of suitable quality.

I literally had the exact same problem with my new bike, 4 weeks ago.

I took it back to the shop, told them and they were completely aware that this would be the case. They spent a few minutes fixing it and it hasn't happened since.

It seems to be a common problem/occurrence.
