We have gotten an assignment in school to rewrite a fairytale to a poem that rhymes.
I chose Sleeping Beauty, so could you please help me with it.
I know that a lot of the sentence sounds very weird, but I thought that would be okay when it's a poem and was supposed to rhyme.
Once upon a time a little princess was born
So that day the castle was not forlorn
At her baptism three fairy godmothers were invited
And they were all excited.

But then the evil fairy godmother came
And this was a shame.
She sentenced the girl to a terrible fate
Her death would come on a certain date.

A spindle her finger would poke
And probably die from a stroke.
The fairy godmothers could not break the evil spell
However they could make the princess fall asleep just how long they could not tell.

When her sixteenth birthday arrived
The meeting with the spindle she survived.
The whole kingdom fell in a slumber
For how many years was an unknown number.

Around the castle a hedge of thorns stood from the ground
The château was without a sound.
Until one day when a noble prince came
To get to the princess was his aim.

He planted on her lips
A true loves kiss.
The princess from her sleep awoke
The evil spell the prince broke.

The prince and princess married straight away
So now the story has come to an end by the way.

What do you think? Is there something that sounds too weird or too wrong? :)
