Cultures/Groups: Riddle stumper, what is the answer to it?

A teacher said to her class on a Friday that she would be giving them a pop quiz one day the following week, sometime between Monday and Friday. Thus it would be on one of those 5 days, but the students would not know on the morning of the quiz that the quiz would be on that day. One astute student raised his hand and said. “Great! I plan not to study since there is no way you can give us a pop test.” And he was right. How can that be??
