Dad won't complain about it (noise), instead, he just annoys me?

We live in a flat.

We live downstairs and the other people live upstairs. But one problem is, she is really noisy. She bangs about when shes walking with her boots on about 6.00am in the morning. We live in a private rented house, so l told Dad to tell the owner about it. But instead, he just creates a huge drama and starts making noises, he switches my hairdryer on, he turns on the hoover, he puts heavy metal music on, he starts shouting horrible names about her, ALL AT ONCE. And it really p*sses me off. Because l have my coursework to do, yet, l am still in Bed when lt happens so l cannot sleep. lt really, really starting to p*ss me off. How can l just get him to complain to the owner? (Who owns both flats). He said lt's pointless, but l don't see it that way. I have a headache and tired of all of it now. I'm 16.

Thanks.

If it was a bloke upstairs your dad would deal with it properly, in some way. It's easier man to man.

But confrontation with a women (other than family) is always difficult, you are never very sure of what you can or should do. I bet he wishes you would deal with it, but you are his daughter so he can't ask you, and if you ask him he can't say 'yes' because you are his daughter and he can't put you into a conflict situation.

The woman upstairs may well have a post in yahoo answers grumbling about noisy neighbours downstairs. "The man downstairs must wash his hair a lot because he is forever using the hair dryer".

Why don't you pop a note under the ladies door asking her nicely if you could all come up with a better way to live in the same building. You will ask your dad to be less noisy, and if she could quieten herself down a bit too. After all, other than wearing heavy boots she might be a really nice women who would make a good friend, she may even be a teacher and could help you with that coursework.
