I was wondering if anyone knows what causes deja vu, because I get it a lot, and sometimes its really frightening.Last week I was on Vacation in Costa Rica sitting at a bar with a bunch of my friends when I got a really creepy case of deja vu. It was a sequence of events, and they didnt really mean anything but it freaked me out and I was in tears over it. It was like my one friend said something, and then the bar tender said something to us about what she said, and I turned my head and another girl in another conversation moved her arm a certain way, and I could have swarn that those things all happened the night before in the exact same place, time order, everything. Is it a glitch in the matrix? lolme too lady! I will have a dream about something and someone brings it up and I'll be like didn't we just talk about this? but then I realise it was a dream!Mary Alice Cullen - thats exactly what happens to me, I get like stiff as a board and its like time stops and I'm just looking around at the situation. In Costa Rica my friend had to grab my shoulders to get my attention! weird huh? Here's another one - Does anyone else get Jamais vu? Its kinda the opposite of deja vu, where you are in a situation that you actually have been in before, and you know you have, but you can't remember it. It can also happen with like words and phrases and things. One time I had it really bad with the letter "N". I couldnt figure out what it was. I kept asking what it was, and someone showed me one, but I couldn't recognise it...so weird

Some experiences of deja vu are actually evidence of neurological dysfunction (e.g., mini seizures).

Same occurances occur to people that are very astute, very bright. You may have extra-sensory input. Don't let it bother you. It just is part of you. Use it for good.

This will explain it allhttp://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/1682This one is also very informativehttp://science.howstuffworks.com/deja-vu.htmI know it's a lot of reading but it's worth it and very interesting.

Yep matrix glitch. haha. I know what you're talking about though, because stuff just like that happens to me ALL THE TIME. I hate it. It makes me think I've had a former life and I'm just living my newer life in the same exact way. Another thing that happens with me is I will dream something, maybe like about a whale or something really random that I wouldn't normally dream about, and then someone talks about it the next day. Do you experience that?

I don't know... I get them alot, and sometimes really strong but not very detailed....a lot of the time it's something I read, like an email from a friend, something they say I know they'd said before. but not like they're repeating themselves, but like I knew it would happen before it did and now it's old hat?....when I walked past this certain point in the yard of one of my old houses, I'd have the same deja vu every time...except I don't know if it was deja vu because while it felt like I'd seen it happen before I knew I never had. I could walk past it like twice an hour and every time it would be the same images....Especially in dreams! Sometimes I'll have the same dreams over and over but with little variations each time so it's the same but different adn strange and frustrating. Finally it gets to the point when I'll start to predict what will happen next in the dream, and then one time I'll be able to control what happens in the dream at the same time knowing its not real, and then I never have that particular dream again....strangeness, huh?

It is a slight lapse of the brain function, its happened to me i thought it was great, i had a slight dizziness when it happened

I don 't believe in a matrix. No one knows for sure why deja vu happens. One possibility: the circumstances are similar in pattern or perception (look, smell, sound, etc.) to something you have lived through previously. It is, then, a potent reminder and feels as if you lived through the present scene before. Some people believe in pre-existence. That is, you were in the spirit world before you were born and foresaw (were shown as in a movie) your entire life, you approved of it, that is agreed to be born, and were. So in this situation the deja vu aspect would be a remembering of a segment you foresaw.Others believe in reincarnation, and hence that you did live through the scene in a previous life, and now have been given another chance to do it better, so to speak.I think the first description above is the most likely, and while I don't deny the other possibilities, I don't believe in them.
