I have a dell Vostro 1000 and I can no longer watch or play cds or dvds. I can hear the cd spinning but it will just stop a few seconds later, nothing pops up onscreen. I have tried to search online for support options but get varied suggestions (most aren’t for my version of dell laptop). So basically this is what I have come to know about what my computer says…
The device manager shows a yellow (!) in front of PBDS DVD + RW DS-8W1P (saying Code 39 was the issue). I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. I even tried to use the Dell Driver CD (with rebooting with it in) every time it reinstalled, it automatically had the code 39 problem.
I’m not sure if there is a patch to look for or some missing support software that I need or what. So anyone who is more computer savvy, your answers will be greatly appreciated.
