Depression unemployment statistics question?

Unemployment during the Great Depression reached 25%, however in those days very few housewives worked. Where housewives figured in, are they now? How does the strong women's work force effect the numbers?
 
I believe that it was figured then, just like now. It is figured on those drawing unemployment benefits. It does not include those just out of work, or who have quit their jobs.
