dictatorship in relationships?

My boyfriend is considered to be "old school"... at age 19... I am turning 20 soon, and I consider myself to be a well brought up and presentable young lady. dress appropriately for occasions, hardly ever show my skin/ shoulders, in college as an engineering major, professional outlook on life and still moving forward. We recently argued about what type of bathing suit I was going to purchase and how presentable I'd look in it. I have been in one piece bathing suits all my life and have decided, that at age 20, I am allowed to buy myself a 2 piece bathing suit. now, I am not ready/ don't think i ever will be ready to wear a bikini, however, a nice modest halter (because i have big boobs and therefore don't have many options) tankini. im highly considering a pair of boy shorts as opposed to the normal bikini bottoms as well. My boyfriend is totally against this idea and says I should wear shorts on top of EVERY bathing suit i wear while swimming. I want to say that he shouldn't be able to control me to the point where he chooses what i wear, what friends I have, and who I talk to. (past issues with him) Id like to always assure him that he is the only man within my sights and that i hold myself in a manner that shows I am in a relationship when i am without him. but unfortunately none of this works and he simply gets infuriated when i go against him about these things...i guess im just looking for input, advice, or anything of the sort. idk what to do :(
