DICTION? What is it? Quiz on it?

I forgot my notes in school and i have a quiz on diction first period. Can someone tell me what diction is, examples, what i need to know about it?

Diction is the word choice of the writer. Writers select words based on their denotation--their literal meaning--and connotation, the feeling associated with the word. Often a writer tries to make you feel a certain way by choosing one word over another. If your class is reading a novel or short story or even an article/essay, your teacher may ask you to discuss how the diction--the word choices--enhanced the author's meaning or intent.
