If so, which ones and how long after Jesus died did they write their books?
zx...
Actually, Christ means 'the anointed one'. And yes, I know that Jesus is his Anglicized name.

No. The gospels were originally written in Greek, a language spoken by none of the characters in the NT. They are pseudepigraphia, a religious literary tradition popular in Greece in the 1st and 2nd centuries.

uh yea most of them were his followers matt mark luke john maybe others as u can tell i don't read that often not sure how long after his death they wrote but i know they all met some violent death

Most of the people answering believe the gospels were written by people who KNEW Jesus personally?

I would lol if it didn't make me want to cry...

What does it matter, anyway? Their 'faith in Jesus' is unwavering - even if you club them on the head with evidence.

I doubt it. The gospels are not written by Matthew, Mark or Luke. They were written by different men.

Hence you will notice the titles: the gospel ACCORDING to XXX.
