celebrity events rather than..? political events? I saw Stevie Wonder, TI, Kanye Waste and Bruce Springsteen more times than Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or Ted Kennedy, well.
I'm so tired of people saying "obama is our president, get over it" where in my question did you see any disdain for the Obamster? If that's your response you can blow it out your ass and leave me alone.

That's what disgusts me. We're in the middle of an economic crisis, but somehow it's okay to throw a $160 million party. A big celebration before the work has even started.

Some would say a lot of Hollywood supported Obama, but I tend to think the a lot of these celebrities saw the popularity of Obama and all the camera flashes, so they couldn't stand not being part of the attention.

I think some of them have an actual compassion for obama and his desires to help charities. Some of those celebs listed have mutliple charities theyve held far before the obama bandwagon kicked up. I'm sure there are a select few of them who just want to jump in for the attention and the appeal of being a philanthropist. It's hard to tell. But i believe Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder felt a true compassion to preform for Obama. I really couldn't see Aretha filing her nails and playing on myspace.... :)

To previous poster:
All presidents get the inaugural parties and the celebrities. I dont believe its fair to single out Obama when all other pres' in history have had the same treatment upon taking oath.

They are always celebrity event. People who go to the parties want to have fun and be entertained, and politicians are not as entertaining as performers. Kennedy was not ever there he was in the hospital
