I checked and it's true that it was not called Palestine when the Ottoman Muslims were ruling it.
I got it in the Wikipedia.

Palestine (Greek: ??????????; Latin: Palaestina; Hebrew: ???????? Palestina; Arabic: ???????? Filas??n, Falas??n, Filis??n is a name which has been widely used since Roman times to refer to the region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.[1] It is derived from a name used already much earlier for a narrower geographical region, mainly along the sea shore.
Supposedly the Romans called it Palestine in the time when Jesus was on earth. The children of Israel were descendants from Jacob, who's name was changed to Israel when he fought the angel for a blessing. He had said he wouldn't let him go until he blessed him. But Jacob was a descendant of Abraham, of whom had the promise of Canaan being the promised land for his people. The 12 tribes of Israel were named after Jacob's sons, which settled that area that became the state of Israel in 1948. The Brittish had defeated them and had control of their land until this was established. But the Palestinians did supposedly take their name from the Brittish mandate, and something to do with the PLO when Yasser Arafat was their leader.
