...$30/plug & VW dealers $50/plug? Hi,
I need 4 plugs. Should I just purchase the cheaper ones from canadian tires assuming the specifications are exactly the same or is it possible the original VW plugs made in Germany are in any way better?? THANKS.

Well, generally speaking, all automotive things made in Germany are a cut above the rest. BUT, as long as they're acceptable replacements for your vehicle, go with the cheaper ones. All manufacturers use specific parts for their vehicles initially, but obviously, aftermarket ones do work, otherwise we wouldn't have more aftermarket suppliers than OEM ones. The only thing to consider is the life of the glow-plug. The OEM Volkswagen ones may have a longer life than the aftermarket ones and need replacing less frequently. It's just a thought.
Good luck with it!

Buy the cheaper ones and fit them yourself. I did it, and all you need is a pair of pliers and a socket wrench. Fixed my starting problems. They're prob'ly the same plug but VW are charging for the name VW, their franchise, cost of flash premises etc.
