Difficulty of changing the radio in a 2006 Jeep Liberty?

We bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade and it came with a single CD player. We don't really use CDs anymore so I want to get a radio from like Walmart for it. Does the adapter piece at Walmart that would fit around the radio work for this? It says it's for Jeep 1999-20xx I believe. I want to be sure that any radio we get will be able to fit and look nice using that piece. We will be buying a radio with a USB port. would it be better to get it done professionally? Thanks :)
