Okay, So our Dimension 8400 Dell Computer was acting really funky, lately, displaying the doomed "Blue Screen of Death" just about every hour. So, we sent it to my mother's work computer tech. He took an overtly obscure amount of time to get back to us, only with the story that our computer was broken beyond repair.
We recieved our now broken computer back about three weeks later and my mother bought a new one. Now, looking at our old computer system, the technician left a wire exposed, so we did a bit of looking into it, pulling the computer open and examining what was going on in the inside.
Truth be told, it hadn't looked like the tech had done any work at all inside our old computer. There were mounds of dust everywhere, and so my mother was deeply discouraged. We decided to hook our old computer up to the monitor, wondering if maybe after sucking out all the dust that we had fixed our supposed broken computer.
After putting all the wires in their proper places, we hooked the computer up and turned it on. Amazingly, the computer worked, but the screen did not show. Now, we had never had this problem before handing over our sick computer, and are wondering if perhaps our shady computer tech has tamper with our video card and taken it out.
My questions are simple:
Where are the video cards in a Dimension 8400 Dell Computer?
and
Does the alarming amount of dust (so much that it hasn't been cleaned in years, apply to the reason that it was not working?
Any answers to this question would be AWESOME, I just don't want my mother to be ripped off when there aren't really problems with our old computer.
