DirecTV users? help with DVR?

I am having an issue with my directv DVR box! First I want to know if it is possible to record THREE shows at once? I am recording a show at 8:00 tonight and another at the same time. I tried recording one that says it goes from 7:00 - 8:01 and because of that extra minute it won't let me record at least one of the shows! besides this, is there anyway I can record the last show and have it end early? when I try to edit the time it ends it only has either START early or END later, no other option. Thank you guys!
