Divx download - with Google Chrome?

Hi thanks to help from this site I have downloaded Divx, but it has asked to download Google Chrome, but this is taking ages, should this be?

Hi,
sorry to tell you but you don't need a copy of chrome to use DivX.

what someone should have told you is to use VLC Player which is completly FREE and can also play any format as the codex files are built into the player already.

I like VLC far better then DivX, and as it's FREE why not try it out ????
