Like if I see a streaming movie i want to download, is it safe? Because I know that torrents are monitored and all and you can get in major trouble from downloading movies via torrents.
So basically...is DivX a safe way to download media.

Yeah i do stream movies and if you are doing from a legal site , then there is no chance of getting troubles . For that you need to have an awesome and wonderful along with a site which is safe and well known . I have one which always helps me for streaming i.e. http://www.moviesfunzone.com/ So why don't you try that !
For me when i try and download the software, just to watch divx movies online, it installs and comes up with threats against my computer. I would try something else.
