DivX not working..............?

When I first downloaded DivX player it worked fine, but recently it doesn't work anymore. It plays videos fine, but when I burn them on to disc it messes up, some files will play, sometimes the same file won't play or will only go 9 seconds into the movie, other time it won't even load. I have a DivX compatible DVD player and it used to work fine but I can't understand why it doesn't work anymore? I have Windows Vista if that helps.
 
hmm, make sure the burn speed on the dvd drive is as low as possible, i.e. 8x that might help
