DivX Player Help?

I'm trying to watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 6 online, and in order to do that I'd have to install DivX, and I did, but for some reason it says that it cannot open/work and says I need to check my internet connection. I opened the original player, thinking that if I open the player, the online version will work, but instead it suddenly shut down after about 5 minutes. Any help is appreciated. Please and thank you.
