I was trying to use the divx player on my macbook but every time i tried to play something it says there is a download error. i assumed it might just be a certain video but it turns out every divx video fails to work and always comes up with the same error message.
so is there something i should install to make it work?
would it work using firefox?
basically what am i doing wrong and how can i fix it.

I haven't used the DivX player on my Mac before - instead I downloaded the K-Lite Codec Pack (free version) and now I can play a TON of media files - including DiviX - native through QuickTime, Front Row, or iTunes.

Here's the link:
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
and it's super easy to install.

I'd suggest trying that. :)
Cheers!

go to divx.com you are missing code. you may need a code reader file so your computer will read the dvd rom. also make sure you have a cd/dvd rom. some of the older computers have only a cd rom
if it is computer code it may cost you 20 bucks to purchase it.
but first check if there are updates you need for free. that may solve it. also some dvds have computer code to install dvd player which is total free. esp sony's.
