DIVX Video to DVD...help!?

I want to put some DIVX videos onto a dvd a watch them on a DVD player, everytime i burn them to the disk there not reconised on my dvd player and it doesnt work atall...do i need a converter or something and also if i do need a converter i need one thats free and that doesnt advertise on my video

your dvd player simply cannot play that type of file/extension; look on your dvd player see if it can read any type of extension and then change the format of the video into that extension.
