Divx won't play audio of mkv files?

Really now...

The player I usually use VLC keeps "skipping" on the video (having tiny pauses every once in a while). I try the video on divx player, and the video is fine but a pop-up message says it can't recognize the audio file and I need to install something to recognize them.
