Do cats vomit when they are stressed?

I have been housesitting for my parents now for about a week, but it will be for a total of one month. I sleep over at my parents house because they have a little dog that needs care. I am over there for about 3 or 4 hours after I get up in the morning, then I put her in the laundry room with her bed and some water. When I get to my house I find hairballs on the rug, Im not really concerned about the hairballs, but sometimes it looks like they have thrown up the food that they have eaten. Could it be that they are upset that I am gone or should I ask my vet what he thinks? Once I get there in the morning they are happy to see me, but it is while I am gone that this happens. If I am gone for a few hours and come back and stay with them then they are fine, but it is prolonged periods of time when I am not there. I would appreciate mature and helpful responses, no rude or lewd comments please. Thank you.
