You can't say an entire gender likes a certain thing or not. Everyone has different likes/dislikes, and they don't have to be just because of their gender. Ask him what he likes in a girl, and if he says humor then maybe he is interested in you. If he doesn't mention it, then maybe he thinks of you as a good friend that can keep his spirits high.
