Do I need a Google Email to have a Android device ?

I was surfing the web and I found some Motorola stuff so iI clicked it and... I found a $199 Motorola XOOM and I surfed through the Email stuff but there wasn't anything about Yahoo Mail. So this is why I'm asking this question about the Google stuff...
 
No you don't need a google email but the phone has the Gmail app because google made the phone
