Do I need a passport to take a close-loop cruise from florida to mexico if...

...I have a NYS enhanced license? My gf surprised me by inviting me with her and her family on a cruise from florida to mexico feb 18-23, the only problem is I dont have a passport. I have a NYS enhanced drivers lisence, would that be good enough? also, does anything change the process being that im diabetic such as approval for my insuli, my insulin pump, needles, ect?

From the following Homeland Security webpage, it looks like you can use your NY EDL to travel by sea to Mexico. The best way to confirm is call the cruise.
